"Cura E-News" March 2008

Cura 2007 Highlights; 2008 Opportunities

Cura Hospitality welcomed several new senior living communities to its family including: Peter Becker Community, Harleysville, Pa.; Maple Farm Nursing Center, Akron, Pa.; Sisters of St. Joseph, Wheeling, W.V.; and St. Andrew's Village, Indiana, Pa.

Cura was also proud to add its second hospital, Mercy Medical Center, Baltimore, Md., a 300-bed Catholic teaching hospital, where annual revenues are expected to be $4.5 million in 2008.  Windber Medical Center, Windber, Pa., Cura’s first hospital client, is one of the first hospitals in the country to partner with us in our commitment to eliminating the use of trans fats.

As part of our commitment to creating exceptional guest experiences and a passion for food, Cura introduced Flavors of HomeSM, a recipe collection featuring senior living community residents’ favorite comfort foods. A second collection is in development and includes such favorites as Yankee pot roast, seafood bisque, cranberry relish, rice pilaf and pineapple upside-down cake (baked in a signature pineapple pan).

In our ongoing efforts to expand our role as a socially responsible organization, Cura recently announced its “Positions of Sustainability,” a set of corporate and local responsibility standards, including a continual focus on environmental issues.

During 2008, Cura anticipates 15% growth to $65 million, as more active and affluent seniors will move into communities, creating a demand for higher quality dining services.

Look for our “EcoSteps” logo and posters, used at all Cura senior living communities and hospitals to communicate the actions we are taking to become more environmentally responsive.  For more information, please visit Cura Hospitality Positions of Sustainability.
