"Cura E-News" March 2008

Cura Hospitality recently developed and introduced the Cura Automated Menu System (CAMSSM), a menu-planning software program that gives Cura managers the flexibility to easily create and update several areas of the menu cycle with one keystroke. The development of CAMSSM was led by Franklin Oiler, Cura Menu Systems Manager, who built the new program using Microsoft Excel as an application platform.

Unlike other menu planning applications, Franklin, who was a Director of Dining Services and is a Registered Dietitian, developed the program to be as user-friendly as possible.

The program allows unit managers to easily make menu changes by choosing from menu items in drop-down boxes and automatically having the information about the item updated throughout the menu program.  The unit manager is able to print menu-related  information including cost analysis, daily display menus, extension sheets, order guides, production sheets, resident meal selection sheets, staff meal sign-up sheets and weekly display menus.

There is continuing development to incorporate new aspects into the program including recipes, nutrient analysis, and a resident information module that will allow for printing of tray card tickets, production tallies and weight tracking tools for dietitians to use.
