IRMC Celebrates National Hospital Week with Cura Hospitality, New Dining Partner; Employee Benefits Fair, Visit from Eat’n Park Smiley’s Cookie Cruiser

INDIANA, PA, May 5, 2010—Indiana Regional Medical Center, nationally ranked as one of the top “100 Best Companies to Work For” according to recent studies conducted by FORTUNE and Modern Healthcare magazines, celebrates National Hospital Week ( a weeklong celebration of the history, technology and dedicated professionals that make our facilities beacons of confidence and care May 9-15) by announcing its partnership with Cura Hospitality, a leading specialist in healthcare and acute care dining, to provide a fresh new approach to food services.  Cura will focus on greater patient satisfaction, while delivering an exceptional, local dining experience for hospital guests and staff.

Cura offers healthier dining options by combining a farm-fresh approach to food preparation that supports local agriculture through FarmSource, a Cura program that features partnerships with over 100 farms, grower cooperatives and producers of food throughout western Pennsylvania, while providing clinical expertise that speeds the healing process.

As part of the partnership, Cura management will meet regularly with hospital clinical staff to design menus that will help speed the healing process for patients using food rather than supplements.  Cura dietitians will assist in identifying nutritionally at-risk patients and recommend pro-active nutrition care plans to help keep them nourished.  To help support Indiana’s “Bee Well” wellness program, Cura offers patients, staff and the community opportunities to learn more about good nutrition, exercise, and healthier lifestyles

Through Personalized Room Service, Indiana Regional Medical Center patients will have their dining orders taken in person, with the assistance of a skilled dining assistant focusing on each patient’s specific health and dietary needs as well as their personal preferences.

Café dining options include made-order and to-go favorites such as fresh dough pizza, high-quality foods-to-order hot off the grill, delicious deli sandwiches, wraps and subs on fresh-baked breads and rolls, gourmet coffees and homemade pies, cakes and cookies including the famous Eat’n Park Restaurant Smiley Cookies.

“We believe that this will help us grow from “good to great” and will further our vision of becoming “the best community hospital in the country,” says Stephen Wolfe, Indiana Regional Medical Center president and ceo.

“Indiana Regional Medical Center is leading the way among regional hospitals, making impressive benchmarks in this region and nationally, in patient care and satisfaction.  We are proud to be affiliated with Indiana Regional Medical Center in transforming its fresh approach to dining,” says Mitch Possinger, president and founder of Cura, a member of the Eat ‘n Park Hospitality Group.
