MESSIAH VILLAGE PARTNERS WITH CURA HOSPITALITY TO INTRODUCE EXCEPTIONAL NEW DINING EXPERIENCE

MECHANICSBURG, PA, November 30, 2009—Messiah Village, voted "Simply the Best – Long-Term Care Facility for 2009" by Harrisburg Magazine, has partnered with Cura Hospitality, a leading specialist in senior living and acute care dining, to provide a fresh approach to food services—one that focuses on providing farm-fresh foods, unique dining options and personalized services, while delivering exceptional dining experiences for Messiah Village residents and guests.

Cura combines a fresh approach to food preparation that supports local agriculture through FarmSource, a Cura program that just received the Annual Harvest Award for connecting communities, farmers and food.  Through FarmSource, Cura purchases 20 percent of their food from local farms and producers of food.  With the implementation of our new menus using farm-fresh food, Cura will introduce its “Culinary Gold Standards” which defines our commitment to using fresh products prepared using scratch cooking techniques.

As one of the first senior living food providers in the U.S. to eliminate trans-fatty acids from its menus, Cura provides extensive clinical support and focuses on developing nutritional programs, customized plans and menus that complement Messiah Village’s health and wellness initiatives and for older adults interested in maintaining healthy lifestyles.

Cura also provides the tools and resources to transform dining services with alternative kitchens and points of dining services, design outdoor and green spaces that feature patios and gardens where residents may tend and harvest foods that are used in the preparation of daily menu items, and most importantly, provide personalized services that re-creates the memories and family comforts of home.

“Cura’s Living Life philosophy, which strives to nourish, heal and uplift the body through great food, personal service and memorable dining experiences, mirrors our overall commitment to serving our residents,” says Dr. Emerson Lesher, President of Messiah Village.  “Together, we are able to enhance the lives of older adults and provide opportunities for residents to continue their life’s journey.”

“Messiah Village is leading the way in how we care for older adults. We will strive to continually enhance dining services, offer lifelong learning opportunities to all, and support Messiah’s strong sense of community life,” says Cura President Mitch Possinger.
